In 1962, around fifty winegrowers from the Côte des Bar villages of Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville decided to join forces and set up a wine cooperative to pool their pressing activities. Their determination to add value to the winegrowers’ production quickly took root, and the de BARFONTARC brand was born, whose name – a nod to its origin – is made up of the first syllables of the three original villages.

Champagne de BARFONTARC and its member winegrowers work together to continuously improve how they work. This requires a deep respect for the land and the people who work on it. Our winegrowers benefit from cutting-edge technical support, which allows them to develop increasingly sustainable viticultural practices. And we have proof of that: 80% of the vineyard is certified with the Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne label (we aim for 100% by 2030) and HVE (High Environmental Value) labels.

As it has cooperative status, Maison de BARFONTARC receives a wonderful variety of different grapes, which means it can compose its blends in many different ways. This variety also means it can produce wines of a consistently high quality. The cellar master and his teams love working on creating wines with different profiles. Maison de BARFONTARC is equipped with ultra-modern production facilities, and is constantly updated. This cutting-edge equipment serves to respect ancestral know-how, and ensures that the teams showcase all the characteristics of the local terroir. These shared facilities mean that multiple identities can be expressed.
